I was born in 1973 in Louisville, KY. My step-father was a Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran who worked with computers and we lived in Indiana, South Dakota, and Nebraska. His patriotism and involvement in various Veteran Service Organizations highly influenced my decision to join the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from high school. I went to bootcamp for 3 months at Parris Island, South Carolina and to technical school in Millington, Tennessee for 4 months where I learned to be an Air Traffic Controller. As our class neared graduation, we were told to select our top 3 duty stations but not to select Hawaii as no one would get to pick Hawaii. I only selected Hawaii and I was the only person to receive it. My first duty station in the fleet was Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. I spent 2 years there and then transferred to MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. I deployed to Pohang, Korea for 5 weeks, which is what made me eligible to join the VFW. I separated from the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California with an honorable discharge at the conclusion of my 5 year contract . I stayed in California for several more years before moving to the South, where I’ve lived since 11/2002. I am currently an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA and have worked at the Monroe Regional Airport since 2003. I am married to a Gulf War Sailor (Post Commander Chris LeGuin). We are very active in the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Service Organization and are focused on helping veterans, their families, and our community.
